There is an abundance of eateries in this part of Devon. Read on to hear more about the eclectic places that we have been eating at recently, so you have an insight into where to eat.
Turf Locks
Turf is one of our all-time family places when we are choosing where to eat. Getting to Turf is all part of the fun, making Turf a true destination pub. You cannot drive all the way there, but you can walk, cycle, boat or paddleboard.
“The Turf provides a wonderful setting where you can relax and enjoy great food and drinks and friendly service from a family-run pub. Clive and Ginny Redfern took over Turf in 1990 and, together with their sons James and Oliver, have continued to renovate and improve this fascinating timber-framed slate-hung listed building. This is a proper pub. There are no carpets, just pine strip floors making our pub ideal for muddy paws and muddy kids.”
Coldharbour Farm Shop
Open all year round, our freshly prepared menus have something for everyone. From a late weekend breakfast, a mid-morning brunch or light bite and everything in between. The choice is yours with every dish cooked to order.
Little Oink
Little Oink is a new independent feasting house in Exeter’s trendy Magdalen Road. It is a cafe during the day and turns into a vibrant cocktail bar with a fantastic menu in the evening. We definitely recommend a visit for oysters and a glass of fizz! Chef Olivia Carbonari serves the oysters with homemade chimichurri sauce, mignonette and a dash of chilli vinegar.

The Wandering Pig
Stone banked pizza night from the beautiful little vintage pizza van – If you are wondering where to eat, let Tom at The Wandering Pig lure you to a nearby coastal or country village destination; we 100% recommend it. The wandering Pig is a mobile pizzeria. You can get our pizza at different places in east Devon.

Cow & Cacao
One of the newer additions to Dart Farm Shop is Cow & Cacao, the perfect stop-off for brunch, lunch or a sweet treat; available from 11:30 am – 4 pm to eat in and as a takeaway from The Shack.
“From smoothie bowls, banana bread and wood-fired baked eggs and salmon and asparagus for breakfast; to sourdough pizzas, Ruby Red steaks and seasonal fish for lunch; it is the perfect spot to refuel after a wander around the Food Hall, the Farm Track or a cycle along the Exe Estuary Trail”
Winslade Manor
Our most recent trip to Winslade Manor was for Sarah’s Birthday Brunch. Winslade Manor Restaurant & Bar is a newly refurbished destination for Exeter and the southwest. Chef Director Matt Mason uses the best local ingredients in menus to suit every taste and occasion. The brunch menu is the perfect choice for relaxed, mid-morning dining. Available every day from 9.30 am-11 am.
