This page outlines three of our all-time favourite East Devon walks. If you’re after fresh air, wildlife or coastal views, East Devon is the right place for you.
Branscombe to Beer walk:
6 mile round walk.
Branscombe village (believed to be the longest in-country) really is a picture postcard. From the beach area, head left over the cliffs. Enjoy the views and take in the sea air. As the name suggests, Beer is a great ‘go-to location’ for a beer! Beer is famous for its smuggling history, and this cove is home to an array of fishing boats bringing in regular catches to be sold at both the fresh fish hut on the beach as well as featuring on the menus of many of the restaurants in the town.
Sidmouth
1 mile round walk
The East Devon Walks are not complete without a short walk around Salcombe Hill with breathtaking views of our beautiful Jurassic Coast. This walk leads out to a viewpoint on the cliff top with amazing views over Sidmouth and on a good day out to Portland Bill in Dorset. In summer the area is filled with wildflowers.
Killerton Gardens
Killertion is a relaxed destination for spring walks; explore the spectacular views and grassy path. Equally, if you fancy a run, Killerton is one of our many Park Run Locations. A 5km run around Killertion is a very productive way to start your Saturday morning.
Entry Fee or National Trust Membership Required.
Towns & Beaches
185 million years of history to explore on the East Devon’s Jurassic coastline, recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. From the white sands of Exmouth and the red cliffs of Beer to the fossilised rocks of Charmouth, this coastline offers something for everyone. Equally, there are numerous valleys dotted with idyllic villages cut through the East Devon countryside to the coast, providing numerous walking and cycling paths and a chance to see some spectacular wildlife.
Pebblebed holiday cottages are ideally located to access beaches and towns along the stunning East Devon coast and beyond.
